  • Assistant Middle School Director

    Job Title: Assistant Middle School Director

    School Overview:

    Excelsior Academy is a K-8 Charter School located in Erda Utah. It supports a classical educational model, using Direct Instruction. Our school emphasizes academic excellence and character development, empowering students to thrive academically and personally.

    Position Overview:

    We are seeking a dedicated Assistant Director for grades 6-8 to join our team. The Assistant Middle School Director will work closely with the Middle School Director to oversee all aspects of school operations, curriculum development, student support, and community outreach. This role requires strong leadership skills, a deep commitment to student success, and the ability to collaborate effectively with staff, students, parents, and community stakeholders.

    Key Responsibilities:

    1. Curriculum Development and Instructional Leadership:

      • Collaborate with the Middle School Director and teaching staff to develop and implement a rigorous, standards-aligned curriculum that meets the needs of diverse learners.

      • Provide instructional leadership by supporting teachers in implementing effective teaching strategies, differentiated instruction, and assessment practices.

      • Monitor curriculum implementation, student progress, and assessment data to inform instructional decisions and promote continuous improvement.

    2. Student Support and Discipline:

      • Support the Middle School Director in fostering a positive school culture that promotes academic excellence, and character development.

      • Assist in the development and implementation of student support systems, including behavior management strategies, counseling services, and intervention programs.

      • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and support staff to address individual student needs and ensure a supportive learning environment for all students.

    3. Staff Development and Evaluation:

      • Assist in recruiting, hiring, and training teaching staff and support personnel.

      • Provide ongoing professional development opportunities for staff to enhance their instructional practices, classroom management skills, and cultural competency.

      • Conduct regular observations and evaluations of staff performance, providing constructive feedback and support for growth and development.

    4. Parent and Community Engagement:

      • Build and maintain positive relationships with parents, guardians, and community members, serving as a liaison between the school and the community as needed.

      • Organize and facilitate parent meetings, workshops, and events to promote family involvement in student learning and school activities.

      • Collaborate with community organizations, businesses, and other stakeholders to enhance educational opportunities and resources for students.

    5. Administrative Duties:

      • Assist in the development and implementation of school policies, procedures, and systems to ensure efficient and effective school operations.

      • Manage administrative tasks related to student enrollment, attendance, scheduling, and student records.

    Qualifications:

    • Bachelor's degree in Education, Educational Leadership, or related field (Master's degree preferred).
    • Previous experience in education, preferably in a leadership role in a charter school or similar setting.
    • Strong knowledge of curriculum development, instructional practices, and educational standards.
    • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and leadership skills.
    • Ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders and foster a positive school culture.

  • Elementary Teacher | 24-25 School Year

    Teacher Position

    Excelsior Academy is looking for candidates that are energetic, enthusiastic, and committed to student success. Candidates must work well in a team environment, including participation in a coaching model for teaching. Candidates should have, or be working toward, a professional or associate teaching license, or a bachelor’s degree.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Commits to delivering Excelsior Academy curriculum to all students equitably.
    • Uses Direct Instruction approaches where required or recommended.
    • Participates in team meetings and offers positive professional guidance and input.
    • Develops and maintains a stimulating and nurturing environment that meets students’ individual and class needs.
    • Shows empathy for and understanding of students.
    • Prepares students adequately for all required assessments.
    • Develops with parents and students a cooperative partnership based on mutual respect and objectivity. Facilitates resolution of problems that may arise with students and parents.
    • Tracks students’ progress, achievement, and attendance.

  • Elementary Classroom Instructor | 24-25 School Year

    Instructor Position

    Excelsior Academy is looking for candidates who are energetic, enthusiastic, and committed to student success. Classroom instructors work with a homeroom teacher to meet the needs of the students in the homeroom class. Instructors may also teach math and reading groups. Candidates must work well in a team environment, including participation in a coaching model for teaching.

    The instructor position requires a high school diploma. EA will train and coach instructors until they are confident in their job duties. Instructors work 36.5 hours per week and only work during the school year (off during school vacations).

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist homeroom teacher with grading, making copies, etc.
    • Monitor lunch, recess, transitions, and assembly behavior.
    • Teach small group classes and keep a record of grades.

  • School-Based SLP, Speech Language Pathologist

    School-Based Speech Language Pathologist - SLP | 2024

    Excelsior Academy seeks a full-time and a part-time Speech Language Pathologist to serve elementary students in Erda, Utah. This is a great opportunity for an SLP looking to work with an amazing charter school and help make a difference in a child's life! Annual starting salary of $75,000; negotiable for the part-time position.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Provide diagnostic assessment and therapeutic treatment of students in a school setting through the use of current best practices based on prescribed services in the IEP.

    • Provide Instruction in pragmatic, syntax, and social skills; articulation and language deficits.

    • Conduct initial screenings and RTI to determine students' needs along with hearing screenings.

    • Manage a caseload of students; participate in the IEP process in developing present levels of performance, goals, and objectives; treatment recommendations for students qualifying for speech therapy services. 

    • Instruct and support students with various disabilities such as autism, learning disabilities, health impairments, Down Syndrome, behavior disorders, and cognitive deficits.

    • Maintain progress reports & therapy logs; collect and submit data.

    • Abide by school and educational policies and procedures; comply with HIPAA & FERPA laws.

    • Consult and collaborate with school staff and families on a regular basis.

    • Ability to supervise a Speech Technician.

    • Other duties as assigned.

    Special Education Teacher Position

    Excelsior Academy is looking for candidates that are energetic, enthusiastic, and committed to student success. Candidates must work well in a team environment, including attending and participation in special education training during the work day. Candidates should have or be working toward a professional or associate teaching license, or a bachelor’s degree.

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Maintain compliance with State & IDEA regulations.

    • Work directly with students teaching academics and providing behavioral support.

    • Collaborate with parents, administration, regular & special education staff.

    • Work with and provide guidance to a team of paraeducators.

    • Attend special education training throughout the year.

    • Other related duties as assigned.

    Special Education Instructor Position

    Excelsior Academy is looking for candidates who are energetic, enthusiastic and committed to student success. Special Education Instructors work under special education teachers to meet the needs of students with disabilities throughout their school day. Candidates must work well in a team environment and attend to a large variety of tasks during the day. Student needs vary, requiring flexibility as a necessary component of a successful special education instructor.

    The instructor position requires a high school diploma. Instructors work 36.5 hours per week and only work during the school year (off during school vacations).

    Duties and Responsibilities

    • Assist students with disabilities in academic, behavioral, and social needs
    • Help students with lunch, recess, and transitions and assist during carpool.
    • Support during special education and regular education academic and social groups.
